2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma Shock & Coilover Options

King Shocks

King's unmistakable blue color isn't the only thing they're known for. King Shocks delivers an excellent mix of on-road comfort with off-road performance. If you're looking for a shock that can do it all in style, King is the go-to option currently for the 2024 Tacoma.

  • Very comfortable out of the box
  • (C)ompression (D)amping adjusters allow a softer/firmer feel for the driver to adapt to different vehicle loads to reduce sway, or to increase damping for higher speeds and performance.
  • 90 Day warranty is one of the weakest points, highly recommended to get an extended warranty through Shock Surplus.
  • Can be rebuilt and serviced, typically recommended between 50-75k miles.

Icon Vehicle Dynamics

Icon has delivered more than just a shock package for the Tacoma, they've delivered a full suite of suspension components that bolster the entire suspension performance. Longer rear arms, new upper control arms, and a host of hardware to make sure when you ask the most out of your Tacoma, the suspension delivers with predictability.

  • Excellent road manners, sporty yet comfortable
  • Numerous systems and components to build out a full suspension approach
  • Manually Adjustable or Electronically adjustable options to maximize load hauling, or offroad performance.
  • Rebuildable and serviceable, recommended between 50-75k miles

Fox Shocks

Fox just announced their suspension package for the 2024 Tacoma, which includes the 2.5 Performance Elite series, as well as a brand new 3.0 Internal Bypass series.

The 3.0 differ from the 2.5 series in one major way; the 3.0 are position sensitive damping, meaning each zone of the shock produces certain damping characteristics, whereas the 2.5 series is a linear response through the range of damping. In other words, the 3.0 IBP shocks are softer in the ride zone (comfort), and ramp up damping when the speed/terrain gets tougher (higher speeds offroad).

  • (D)ual (S)peed (C)ompression adjusters are unique across the competition, allowing for high and low speed compression damping.
    • Low Speed adjustment will affect body roll, nose dive, and driver inputs
    • High Speed adjustment will affect harder hits, curbs, hitting bigger bumps offroad
  • Aluminum bodied shocks defends against corrosion, and superior heat dissipation, this typically only helps the really aggressive drivers generating heat in the shock.
  • (I)nternal (B)y-(P)ass is the only IBP option for the 2024 Tacoma currently, and these types of shocks are a much different design than the standard monotube option offered by the rest of the competition.
    • Allows a very plush and comfortable ride zone; daily drive, easy trails, that zone where the shock isn't really working too hard.
    • Ramps up damping when the shock stroke starts moving through the full range of travel at various speeds.

Falcon Shocks

Falcon Shocks have stepped into the full coilover game with their release for the 2024 Tacoma platform. Typically only providing the shocks, this go-around Falcon has a full coilover system, ready for installation. Along with the front setup, they've provided reservoir shocks in the rear with their fast adjust settings that can easily adjust compression damping. Being able to adjust compression in the rear of the truck allows the driver to handle loads better without sway, or really ramp up the speeds offroad to take the harder hits when going fast.

  • Tuned on the sporty / performance side, vs on the comfort side.
  • Rear adjustable shocks help a lot with hauling gear, overland, or towing.

On the Horizon

Other brands like Eibach, Bilstein, Falcon, Rancho, Fabtech, and others are certainly in the works. This will expand the offering to more budget levels, with Bilstein and Eibach and Rancho covering the entry-level range around $500 for a full set of 4 shocks.
